Description

Visual journaling is a creative practice that combines elements of art, design, writing, and self-expression to create visually appealing journal pages; unlike traditional journaling, which primarily focuses on writing, aesthetic journaling places equal emphasis on visual elements such as drawings, paintings, collages, typography, and design elements to document thoughts, feelings, experiences, and observations.

This course introduces the foundations that build confidence through various art media. In visual journaling, individuals may incorporate photographs, magazine clippings, washi tape, stickers, stamps, and other embellishments to enhance the visual appeal of their journal entries. Students will be encouraged to be creative and may use their journal pages to document moments of gratitude, set intentions, or reflect on personal growth and aspirations; students will become more aware of what is in the world around them and in other cultures. Overall, visual journaling is a versatile and personal practice that encourages creativity, self-discovery, and mindfulness through the fusion of art and writing.
