Description

Welcome back to our Middle School Biology series! In Part 2, we’ll dive deeper into the intricate world of biology, designed to build on the foundational knowledge covered in our previous course. In addition, we’ll take a closer look at evolution, exploring the fossil record, common ancestry, and how evolutionary trees help us understand life’s diversity. This course is perfect for middle schoolers eager to expand their understanding of biological concepts and prepare for more advanced studies in high school biology.

Led by an experienced educator and biologist, this course explores critical topics that will enhance your child’s grasp of the living world. This course is an exciting opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of biology, fostering a lifelong curiosity about the natural world. Whether your child is looking to solidify their knowledge or explore the wonders of life, Middle School Biology Part 2 is the perfect next step.

Student Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding Cells: Explore the types of human body cells, differentiate between eukaryotes and prokaryotes, and compare mitosis and meiosis. Learn about cell morphology, components, and their functions.
  • Genetics: Investigate gene expression and understand the impact of mutations and cancer, "Mendel's Laws" and "Mechanisms."
  • Evolution: Delve into the fossil record, understand common ancestry, and differentiate between natural and artificial selection. Learn to read evolutionary trees.
  • Environmental Interactions: Study how adaptation drives environmental change and analyze the relationships between organisms through competition, predation, mutualism, parasitism, and commensalism.

Note (Class Prerequisite): Students who enroll in this class must have completed Testing Mom's (Middle School Biology Class).

*Unfortunately, this class does not allow drop-ins. Each class builds upon prior courses.
