In this interactive reading class, students become “Word Explorers,” honing critical reading comprehension skills that help them succeed in every subject. As they journey through various texts—from exciting folk and fairy tales to insightful history and science selections—they will work on reading aloud, connecting ideas, and understanding the deeper meanings behind the words.
Our class focuses on developing vocabulary, phonics, and fluency while engaging with stories that spark curiosity. Students will build confidence in reading comprehension through activities like comparing and contrasting texts, decoding vocabulary using context clues, and identifying main ideas. With guided practice and engaging discussions, your child will gain the tools to understand literary and nonfiction texts, creating a solid foundation for their academic future.

Instructor's Bio:
Marcie has been working with children and the arts for over 20 years. She is a licensed preschool and elementary teacher with a master’s degree in the creative arts-integrated curriculum. She has studied at NYU’s musical theater conservatory and travelled the world as a singer/songwriter with top 10 major label dance releases. She wrote and recorded a children’s album, and regularly performs children’s music all over New England.
