Description

Ok, so what is an Obby? An Obby is an obstacle course (or a parkour course), in which the player must come across and overcome a series of obstacles to complete the game. The Obstacle courses include checkpoints at each stage or level. They are common in Roblox and a lot of fun! This is an ADVANCED class for students who have experience with Roblox Studio and computer programming.

  • Explore core concepts of game development in Roblox Studio
  • Manipulate 3D parts and change material and color
  • Create a spawn location
  • Negate, Union, and separate
  • Learn programming fundamentals with Lua Coding
  • Present their project during the final session
  • Create and publish games to the Roblox website

Preparation:

Please make sure a Roblox account is set up prior to class, and each student knows their login information.

Be sure to use a desktop or a laptop for this class as Roblox Studio cannot be accessed with a tablet.

We will learn new ways to communicate using the latest digital technologies. The topics I have been focusing on are Coding, Robotics, 3D Modeling, Spatial Visualization, Math/Logic Games, Virtual Reality, and Encryption. My teaching and learning philosophy stem from the five p’s of creative learning (projects, passion, play, peers, and purpose). I learned this technique at MIT through friends I have made the past couple years while attending the conferences in Boston.
