Scratch Coding: "Turkey Hunt!" (3rd-9th Grade)

In the "Scratch Coding Turkey Hunt" class, students will embark on an exciting coding adventure where they get to capture the turkeys running wild in a fun and interactive game. This class offers a comprehensive learning experience that introduces students to computer programming and game development using the Scratch platform.

By the end of the "Scratch Programming Turkey Hunt" class, students will have created their own interactive game, with challenging gameplay, engaging graphics, and a leveling system. They will gain valuable coding skills, problem-solving abilities, and a sense of accomplishment as they embark on their journey to become game developers. This class is an excellent starting point for students interested in pursuing further studies in computer science and game development.

Students Will Learn:

• Platform and Tools: Students will utilize the Scratch website, a user-friendly and block-based visual programming environment designed for beginners. Scratch empowers students to create interactive stories, animations, and games, making it the perfect tool for learning the fundamentals of coding.

• Game Design: This class focuses on teaching students how to design and develop their own interactive games. They will be able to unleash their creativity and design a captivating game world where they become turkey hunters.

• Coding Challenges: Throughout the class, students will encounter a series of coding challenges, including creating collision checks to capture turkeys and developing a leveling system to increase the game's complexity. These challenges will enhance their problem-solving skills and encourage them to think critically.

• Time Management: Time management is a crucial aspect of game development. Students will learn how to implement time-based mechanics within their game, such as timers for capturing turkeys and creating urgency and excitement for players.
