Class Details:
The SCAT Test (School and College Ability Test) is a standardized test used by Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) to identify 2nd – 12th graders for their gifted program. The SCAT is an “above grade level” test and measures math and verbal reasoning abilities. 2nd and 3rd graders will take the Elementary SCAT designed for 4th-6th grade. The test is scored in comparison to 4th to 6th graders.
The SCAT is a timed, two-part test that contains math and verbal sections in a multiple-choice format. Since 1985, the Center for Talented Youth has identified talented students in elementary grades using the SCAT. In 1996, CTY computerized the SCAT and made it available at Prometric test centers. This class will prepare your child for this upcoming test!

Instructor Bio:
Hi, I'm Mr. Hinton, I have taught children from the early age of 2 years old to 18 years of age. I really enjoy learning about what kids like to do and what motivates them. I know all children want to do well on a test, but it is also good to build rapport with them. I will sometimes use rewards for younger kids and have some fun conversations. Sometimes I use props like comics, movies, animals, Marvel, and Hello Kitty!
