Sat/Sun: TinkerCad 3D Printing for NEWBIES (Grades 3-8)

Learn the basics of 3D Design using TinkerCAD. Students will use the design thinking process to create two objects. In this session, you’ll learn how the 3D printer works and how to design your very own objects to print!

Tinkercad is a free and web-based application. This means that students may access and work on their designs both at school and at home using almost any computer that is connected to the internet, without having to install any software.

Students will learn skills directly connected to innovative careers such as building, architecture, animation, engineering, industrial design, and electrical engineering.

In this camp students will: 

• Gain confidence using the TinkerCad interface 
• Explore core concepts of the design thinking process
• Create their own design from scratch
• Use tools to improve the design of their objects
• Understand the importance of dimensioning, scaling, design, and proportionality 
• Design and create simple animal mashups from different parts
• Color your creation
• Export your creation
• Present their project during the final session

Preparation:
