Description

In this class, we will focus not only on learning phonics rules such as long vowels, vowel digraphs, prefixes, and suffixes, but we will also explore irregularly spelled words.

Come join us and explore the wonders of reading! We will be working together to expand reading skills with phonics by introducing various letter-sound combinations. Students will journey through engaging mentor texts and be guided along the path to increased comprehensive abilities through phonetic reading with the instructor.

Students will gain a better understanding of the following concepts:

Learning Objectives

Long vowel sounds
Vowel Digraphs
Prefixes and Suffixes
Irregularly spelled words
Sight Words

*Class Prerequisite- Students need to know all letters. Plus, basic sounds of letters.

Instructor Bio:

Hi, my name is Marla. Building rapport and a connection are important to me. One of the first things I do with my students is to get to know them. I have been an educator for over 14 years, and I have found connecting to the student helps build a foundation to learn. I create engaging and differentiated lessons, am upbeat and animated during lessons to keep student engagement at a high level.

I come from a family of educators! My grandmother was a teacher, my grandfather was a teacher and a principal, my stepfather was a teacher and a superintendent, and I have many cousins that are teachers!
I am married with two children. I’ve experienced using TestingMom.com’s resources for my own children when preparing them for tests.
I wake up at 4:30 am 4 days a week to exercise!
