Impactful presentations start with confident presenters, and it is never too early to introduce students to the world of public speaking. In this 5-week course, we will introduce students to what is required in giving a speech or presentation. Whether it is an informative or persuasive speech, students will learn to avoid fillers while employing certain techniques to ensure a successful speech. This class gives them the confidence to go up there and shine.
The class objective is to develop the skills necessary to be an effective public speaker with confidence, tone, energy, and eye contact. We will also develop essay writing in conjunction with the different aspects of public speaking.
In the first class, we will focus on eye contact, tone, verbal fillers, and speech writing. The second class has Informative writing with eye contact and tone. The third has persuasive speeches where students write and give a speech trying to persuade us to take action on something. The fourth class has entertainment/narrative essays with energy, tone, and eye contact. Classes have lesson plans, worksheets, activities, and homework. There is also a course review at the of the last class.
