Description

Critical thinking blossoms from previous knowledge, to understanding, applying, analyzing, and finally evaluating and creating. The TTCT (Torrance Test of Creative Thinking) developed by Dr. E. Paul Torrance, the TTCT is highly reliable and one of the most used creativity tests of its kind. The TTCT is an example of the processes of Bloom's Taxonomy. This class will help develop the ladder from prior knowledge to higher-level thinking. Students will incorporate social learning skills in a comfortable environment. Gaining confidence through interactions with others, students will be highlighting problem-solving skills and will journal their experiences.

Learning Objectives

In this class students will:

  • Explore artistic, verbal, and written expression.
  • Students will critique literature, art, nature, and social interactions.
  • Students will interact with each other on shared topics such as What if? How would you? How would you change something to make it better? What is unusual and why?
  • Students will express their ideas in common and individual journaling and share with the group.
  • Students will research interdisciplinary resources such as Fine Art, Art History, and Masters. Writing, Design, Science, and History. They will be a stepping stone for our journey to high-level critical thinking skills.
  • Students will participate in cross-curriculum interactive lessons to expand their deductive reasoning skills, and to use logic and reasoning to create a conclusion.
  • We will encourage open-minded and non-judgemental expression.

Yellari says:

Mr. Sam is an excellent teacher. He provides feedback and encourages the students. He enjoys his students and engages every student in a positive way. He gets them involved in reading along with him, asks questions to see if they are understanding what they are reading, engages them in discussions, and explains the meaning of the words. He prepares his classroom material for public speaking classes and makes the classroom so joyful for kids. He assigns work to kids and gives them his feedback for their improvements. I would highly recommend his classes. My child says, \" Mr. Sam is the best!\"

Sam, is great with the kids! He made them laugh and kept them engaged! My son enjoyed the class. I feel like it would have been more beneficial if it was a weekly class for a few more weeks. But I do feel like it was a very good class for him.

Pamela says:

My son has been homeschooled since 4 years old and has never been to public school. The class gave him somewhat of a classroom experience with kids similar around his age. Most classes that he has taken didn’t require him to participate, but this one did. This made him very nervous, but it also boosted his confidence. The instructor has excellent teaching skills. I really liked how he engaged students and he also had excellent communication skills. He gave great accommodations which boosted my son’s confidence even more than before! A great addition to boost student learning in addition to regular schooling. Excellent addition for students who are homeschooled like my son.

Daveron says:

He is truly a gifted teacher who inspires his students to excel. My son is still going to take Mr. Sam\'s public speaking classes. I strongly recommend Mr. Sam’s classes. Thank you Mr. Sam!
