Vicki 's Bio

I believe that learning should be fun and not just limited to school. I want my students to be lifelong learners and to see me as a lifelong learner. I believe that every child can learn and achieve if there are people who believe in them and help them believe in themselves. I spend a lot of time building rapport and relationships with my students. Students work harder when they believe you care about them.

I involve parents in my student’s goals. I know for a student to reach their full potential, their first teachers (their parents) need to work closely with instructors. It should be a team effort.

I believe if students have great strategies to problem solve, read for comprehension and understanding, and learn to think critically, they can handle any situation with confidence. I also believe that children need a teacher who can scaffold the instruction so that they have support when needed but also can be independent. 

I believe that students need praise and encouragement. I use extrinsic as well as intrinsic rewards. Young children especially need a teacher who is willing to have fun and sometimes be playful. “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” - Fred Rogers, aka Mr. Rogers

My son Felix, 4 and half year old, has been enjoying to learn with Vicki. Vicki is so sweet, patient, responsible, and professional. She always designs lessons tailored to  my son's interest, personality and his background. She uses a variety of strategies to motivate him to learn and to experience the joy of learning.  I am so grateful that Vicki is always patient and professional! I would like to express my admiration for Vicki's greatest dedication to Felix's learning. Vicki's teaching style is great match to Felix and her efforts are extraordinary and super helpful to Felix.

She has made the good curriculum based on my daughter's pre assessment performance. During whole process she gave great feedback on daily course and wonderful extra worksheet, which was fun for me and my daughter work on together.
