How I Work With Kids

  • It's important to meet the students where they are, discovering what they know, don’t know, where the interest lies. Then I tailor the lessons based on the student’s needs and scale the complexity based on age and aptitude.
  • Part of those considerations is that not all students learn the same way: some are visual learners, some do better conversationally, some need hands on action. I amend things to keep the student actively engaged in the process.
  • I have worked with students with special needs (IEPs, 504s) as well as accelerated/gifted students.
  • Tutoring provides a fantastic opportunity to work exclusively at the student’s pace, one on one.
