How I Work With Kids
- One of my greatest strengths is my youth. There are a lot of jokes that kids make with each other that most adults will not be able to understand due to their age gap. When one of the kids makes a joke, I can understand the source he is talking about and what to reply. Usually, the kids should feel a connection with the teacher. In that case, they are very likely to follow along for the ride, be very cooperative, open to learning, and usually excited for the next session.
- When you work with kids, you must remember that everyone has their preferences for learning. Some kids want to see diagrams on the screen and are visual-based. Other kids prefer to do several practice questions repeatedly, and some would instead do the practice questions via homework during their own time. It’s imperative as a teacher to be observant; you have to observe the kids’ reactions to what you are doing and know how to tweak the lesson for the best possible outcome.

Experience
- Teaching: I’ve been teaching for a private school for about 3 years now. My courses for private school include things like: Python programming, Singapore Math, and International Math Competitions including things like Euclid, Gauss, Cayley, and AMC.
- Tutoring: I initially started my journey as a tutor, I initially worked with Students Offering Support (SOS), and then from there I’ve been also working as a tutor helping students get caught up to what’s going on in class if they are following behind. So, I’ve been a tutor for roughly about 4 years as of now.
- Volunteering/working with kids: I’ve worked with a wide variety of students. One of my students is in Grade 5, yet I’m teaching him how to perform well on a grade 11 Math contest (Cayley). I’ve also worked with students as young as grade 2, and I have taught them beginner level programming, and Python. I’ve also worked with students all the way up to 2nd year in university teaching them Advanced Python programming, and Data Science
- I also currently work as a Data Scientist at a Quantitative Risk & Research Firm. I’ve also worked with several private schools, and created brand new Python Courses for them geared towards different levels of students.
