What levels are tested on the SAT10?
Students ususally take the test in the fall and spring, and it divides into levels corresponding to their grade levels. These levels are labeled as follows:
How is the SAT10 scored?
RS (Raw Score) – The number correct questions answered out of total number of questions tested.
SS (Scaled Score) – Scaled scores are best to use when comparing student performance in a particular subject. However, these are best used to compare performance in the same subject over time.
PR (Percentile) – Percentile ranks range from a low of 1 to a high of 99, with 50 denoting average performance. Additionally, these ranks provide a comparative measure of a student’s performance relative to others.
ST9 (Stanine) – Stanines vary from 1 to 9, with 5 representing average performance. Similar to percentile ranks, stanines reflect a student’s relative position compared to a reference group. 1-3 (below average), 4-6 (average), 7-9 (above average)
NCE – The normal curve equivalent (NCE) is a standardized score that follows a normalized distribution with a mean of 50 and a standard deviation of 21.06. Additionally, people commonly use it for algebraic manipulation of test data.
GE (Grade Equivalent) – This score indicates the grade level at which your child performed on each subtest. For instance, a score of 4.3 signifies testing at Grade 4, third month.
Perf (Performance) – This indicator states how the student is performing at each level: Basic, Proficient, or Advanced.
Lexile Score – A reading/reading comprehension score (only given on the Complete Battery – see FAQ page).
How much time does it usually take to give the SAT10?
