1. What is the HSPT?

The High School Placement Test is a test administered to 8th graders applying to specific parochial schools nationwide.

2. How is the HSPT administered?

The HSPT is a pencil and paper, multiple choice test.  There are 298 total questions covering verbal skills, quantitative skills, reading, mathematics, and language skills.  Schools also have optional science and Catholic religion subtests that are 40 questions each.

3.  How long does it take to complete the HSPT?

The HSPT can take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the five standard subtests.

5. How often is the HSPT offered?

The HSPT is adminstered twice each year. Students have two (and only two) chances to take the exam – once in spring and once in fall.
