ERB (Educational Records Bureau)
What is the ERB? What is ERB Testing?
While you may hear parents refer to the “ERB test,” ERB is actually a test-prep company that provides several different tests for children ages K through 12 applying to independent schools and exclusive public school programs.
ERB is primarily associated with three tests: the AABL, the ECAA test, and the ISEE, and three assessments: the CTP, the WrAP, and the CPAA. Each of the ERB tests is unique, but the common denominator is that the tests measure achievement and reasoning skills.
Tests
The AABL is used to determine admission to gifted and talented programs for children between the ages of 4 and 6. The test is given on an iPad, and uses graphics to test children on verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, early literacy, and mathematics.

The ISEE test is used to determine admission to private schools across the country, and is given to children in the 5th through the 12th grade. The test covers verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning/math achievement, reading comprehension, and an optional writing exercise.

The ECAA test is given to children ages pre-K through 4th grade and covers visual perceptual reasoning, conceptual reasoning, and acquired social/academic knowledge.
For more information on the ECAA, contact our parent success team via chat (click on Help in the upper right hand corner) or phone (877-609-6203) to learn more about how TestingMom can help prep for that test.
Assessments
The CTP (“Comprehensive Testing Program”) is an assessment given to students in the 1st through 11th grade. It covers writing, reading, mathematics, vocabulary, listening, science, and, for students in the 3rd grade and up, verbal and quantitative reasoning subtests are added.

The WrAP (Writing Assessment Program) is a writing assessment for children in the 3rd through 12th grades.
For more information on the WrAP, contact our parent success team via chat (click on Help in the upper right hand corner) or phone (877-609-6203) to learn more about how TestingMom can help prep for that assessment.
