Revise Your Writing for Top Scores! (3rd- 4th Grade)

Want to make your "good" writer a "GREAT" writer? In order to earn top holistic rubric scores for writing, students need creativity, sentence fluency, and a sophisticated sense of voice. Through mini-lessons, standardized testing rubric study, and focused writing activities, students will learn how to revise their own writing pieces for sophisticated voice, creativity, and fluency.

The course includes instruction in the following:

• Sophisticated Word Choice (adding adjectives, adverbs, action verbs, and clauses for a more sophisticated writing voice);
• Concise and Precise Word Choice (eliminate redundancy & choosing appropriate vocabulary to perfectly convey meaning and aid fluency);
• Sentence Variety (mixing sentences of varying lengths and structures to create higher interest and fluency);
• Figurative Language (using metaphors, similes, idioms, and personification to create better visuals for readers); and 
• Creative Hooks (begin writing the piece with an imaginative BANG!)
