Description

Holiday Mods are decorative mods that introduce new features to a particular game theme. We will be creating mods like a snow globe, sleigh, snowman, decorations, and gifts. Join us as we take modding in Minecraft to the winter holidays!

As one of the most popular games on the planet, Minecraft represents a dynamic learning opportunity for students to learn, practice, and celebrate their ability to creatively solve problems. Minecraft as an educational tool has been proven through research to significantly improve learner creativity, collaborative skills, problem-solving abilities, and computational reasoning- all skills that are commodities in today’s global market.

In this course, students will gain a better understanding of the following concepts

Computer Literacy
Basic Coding & Java Commands
Manipulating 3D Shapes
Computational Thinking

Class Requirements:

Students should know how to use a computer
Know how to type
No tablets! (Chromebooks should be fine)

There is a one-time purchase required for Minecraft Java Edition for $26.95. Please Download and Install Minecraft Java Edition here: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-edition. You will need a Microsoft account to buy and play Minecraft Java Edition. If you don’t already have one you can create one for free. Go to account.microsoft.com, select Sign in, and then choose to create one.

* Please make sure that you have a mouse for this class! It will make it easier to work in Minecraft.

* Compatible with MAC, and Windows PCs and Laptops.

Instructor Bio:

Hi, I'm Mr. Cardenas! I have 3 years of teaching experience with Elementary, Middle, and High School Students. I have over 6 years of experience tutoring Elementary to Freshman College Students. All kids have different learning styles and can not be taught the same way. Understanding how one student thinks, how one learns and processes information is key to a successful session. Not only that it will keep them engaged, and interested.
