Practice Questions for the FxAT ™ Test

Looking for practice questions for the FxAT ™ test? You’re not alone: parents across Fairfax County, Virginia are concerned about their child’s performance on the test that determined whether they get into the Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) in Fairfax County, Virginia. The FxAT test, or Fairfax Abilities Test™ is, like so many other gifted tests across the country, extremely competitive, and parents in this Washington, D.C. suburb prepare for years to ensure that their child gets a top score on the test.

The FxAT test uses a custom form of the Cognitive Abilities Test™, or CogAT® test, to qualify kids for the AAP program. Fairfax keeps which version of the CogAT test it uses close to the vest, although evidence points to the fact that the CogAT test Form 7 is the one that parents should practice with.

Indeed, the Fairfax County Advanced Program is hard to get into even though Fairfax County boasts some of the best public schools in the nation. Children who take the test have their scores compared to other children in Fairfax County only (in other words, their scores are not compared to other children nationwide).

It’s a good idea to start using practice questions for the FxAT test as soon as you know that you want your child to take the exam. Get a hold of some workbooks or online materials that will get your child familiar with the format and content of the questions on the exam. Working with quality practice questions for the FxAT test will give your child a considerable leg up.
