NYC Parents Can Now Access Teacher Rankings
This past Friday, the Department of Education in New York City released the Teacher Data Reports. The reports rank individual teachers based on a complex formula that used demographics and past test results to predict student performance. Teachers were either credited or blamed for the difference between the projections and their students’ actual performances and then ranked against one another, according to the New York Times.
All NYC parents who would like to know the ranking of the teachers at their child’s school, as well as teachers’ individual responses to Teacher Data Reports can search for them at the Times’ SchoolBook site.
