Learning at the Zoo
I’m writing to you from our cushy couch where I’m nursing my blistered feet, icing my aching back and trying to remove the cotton candy that mysteriously ended up in my hair. In case you couldn’t guess, we spent all day at the Bronx Zoo, one of the largest zoos in the country. I had forgotten just HOW large it is……til this moment…..and the blisters tell the story! LARGE.
Great Opportunities for Learning at the Zoo
If you haven’t visited your local city zoo this year, now would be a great time to go and explore before school’s back in session. It’s a great opportunity for teaching moments, adventure, exploration, educational learning and fun!
I joined my niece and her kids, who usually go multiple times per year. And, because of this, she always purchases the family membership, which allows parents, children and a guest unlimited access for a year, plus unlimited access to every other NYC borough zoo AND the NY Aquarium. I was floored when I learned that they get to attend ALL of the parks with their membership……if you were to purchase tickets to each for a family of four, it would cost over $275 just for admission, not including food, drinks, parking, shuttle or carousel rides, etc.
Memberships can Bring Savings!
I realized she’s a smart parent by taking advantage of this savings, especially when I witnessed firsthand the family in line in front of us who had to shell out $140 for their family of five JUST for entrance into the zoo, not including the $16 for parking, the stroller rental, shuttle rides for all, etc., etc. I think I let out an audible gasp when I heard their bill was $140 for entrance fees. That’s a lot in this day and age, which saddened me to think of all the children who don’t get to visit the zoo (or any other childhood adventure) simply because their parents can’t afford it…..these kids are being priced out of opportunities, and that is just wrong.
Great Opportunities at TestingMom.com
That’s why I’ve always made it my mission here at Testingmom.com to make our site affordable to all, so that children everywhere are afforded the same opportunities. I really wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I overcharged for our services, and that’s why parents everywhere thank me all of the time, which keeps me motivated to continue helping parents help their children.
