Importance of the Stanford-Binet® test
The Stanford-Binet® test, also known as the SB®-5, is one of the IQ tests for kids that measure their cognitive abilities and intelligence. It is widely recognized for its value and significance in determining if a child is gifted as well as identifying any learning disabilities. Some schools also administer the SB®-5 to their students to learn more about considering them into any gifted programs.
It was developed in 1905 by the French psychologist Alfred Binet, although Lewis Terman published the first scale in 1916. Since then, the SB®-5 has gone through 5 revisions and has been under review of many professionals in the psychological and intelligence testing fields. The scale of revisions and developments it has gone through makes the SB®-5 one of the most valid forms of intelligence tests for children. In order to preserve the validity of each SB®-5, only trained psychologists are allowed to administer the exam. It tests intelligence across six categories.
The type of questions asked in these categories also measure verbal and non-verbal intelligence. Once the exam is done, the psychologist who administers it will give a full report of the test results for your child.
