Gifted Testing in Poor School Systems

Many parents of children in poorer communities, especially those in large metropolitan cities, where schools simply don’t have the same resources worry about whether their kids are getting the same opportunities as children in more affluent school districts. The fact is that the financial stability of a school district can affect the quality of general education, as well as student access to a good gifted and talented program.

Many parents have discovered that children’s performance on gifted testing can bring more money into the school system, ultimately leading to a stronger and better funded gifted and talented program. One way to ensure that more kids qualify through G&T testing is to promote gifted and talented practice test sessions or offer gifted and talented sample test resources to parents and students prior to the date of the formal examinations.
