GATE Test Practice Questions

Many parents contact us looking for GATE test practice questions. These parents are often unsure of what’s on the test given the amount of content they find when they search for the GATE test.

The first important thing to remember is that “GATE Test” is typically a generic description for a Gifted and Talented entry test (GATE stands for Gifted and Talented Exam). For that reason, it’s important to find out the exact name of the test that your child will be taking before planning out your preparation strategy. The GATE test practice questions that you should use will vary wildly depending on whether your child is taking, for example, the OLSAT® test or the CogAT® test.

So how do you find out which test your child will be taking? Many schools or school districts are hesitant about sharing specific information about the tests they give. For that reason, parents looking for GATE test practice questions will have to do a little digging! The best place to start is your school district’s website. Often these sites will list which test(s) the district administers, although you may have to click around a bit.

If you can’t find the information there, don’t hesitate to approach your child’s teacher or another school or school district official. Your principal might know the name of the test, for example, or at least point you toward someone who does.

Believe it or not, many school districts remain impossibly tight-lipped about the test they give. If that’s the case for you, don’t just give up and look for GATE test practice questions; you won’t get very far. Instead, try to at least find out whether the exam is an achievement test or an intelligence test (also called a cognitive test). This distinction can help you narrow down your options in terms of study material.
